My my it has been a long time! I have not posted anything in months and I think I shall start again. Fresh fresh fresh.

I am currently making a tweed jacket with pearly pink lining that I mentioned agggeeeeeeeeees ago (for my AS levels). It was all going wonderfully until I realised that it really didn’t fall properly so out came the unpicker…but it’s all very exciting and I am so pleased with my material! I always thought that jackets would be a real trial to make but they are actually fairly simple as its just a case of sewing a few sections together and voila! My next item on the list is to make a dress. I was planning to do a loose nightdress style number, but on second thoughts (seeing as I am designing it to be worn as daywear) I fear this could be a bit too nightdressy, instead the top half will look like a nightdress and the skirt will be made out of silk with lots of gathering……and breathe! Well thats the plan anyway. Pictures to come, pinky promise.

Have any of you ever had a clothes swap with your friends? If not then you should as I can tell you it is heaps of fun! My friends and I had one a few weeks ago, and I managed to come home with alot more than I took! The loveliest thing about clothes swapping is that what doesn’t suit one person can look amazing on another. I had brought with me an old skirt which my granny had givin me to cut up. I had been contemplating chucking it away as I imagined my friends would laugh at such a crazy old thing, much to my embarrassment….but as soon as one of my friends set eyes on it she actually liked it!  Before long the skirt had been transformed from weird old baggy thing into a dress all by hitching it up a bit-I was so pleased!  Despite being a ‘clothes swap’, we all concluded that it would be a nice way to make a bit of money, so, with one friend in the role of David Dickenson (auctioneer style!) we had a little auction….I bagged myself this red coat for £4.50, the scarf for 30p, a dress for £3.00 and two belts for 20p each… We all laugh when we see each other in the others clothes, and we are planning another one soon, I can’t wait to see what I come back with next   I urge everyone to try this, a cheap night of entertainment I tell you!

I woke up this morning in the mood for some creativity… this vest, along with another similar one had been hanging about generally being annoying for so long (they were from my grandma-no longer wanted) so I pulled out a dusty blue bit of ribbon and got chopping! Very simple to do and extremely quick, I think I may be wearing this soon with a sharp black jacket in contrast to that candyfloss sweet bow…the other vest shall soon be in the process of reincarnation-I am planning to smother it in hundreds of pearl beads…

And in other news I FINISHED THE DRESS! The dress that has taken a giant amount of time, but this moring I overcame the challenge and it is now ready to be photographed-woop hey!

Just had some spanish apricot yogurt for breakfast, was rather yummy! I thought today I would share with you one of my designs I did a few weeks ago..I am unsure how hard lace is to sew, but I have come up with a design for a sort of lace T-Shirt (big news! I hear you cry….not!) now I know they are being done to hell on the high street, but my design has a chunky metal zipper up the back and a luxurious pink silk bow around the neck, tied at the back…thought it may look nice with a pair of light blue peg legs…alas Jon Lewis material department I hear you calling to me!

Mumma bought these from the market-I love anemones, especially their little velvet middle!

My top favourite photo from the Sartorialist’s book….this grandma is seriously cool and I just love her colour combinations. Beige is such an elderly shade but she has added so much punchy fun with the pretty sea green bangles and those dear shoes! I have actually gone so far as to paint my nails barbie pink in her honour and last night I spent a good 20 minutes searching for plastic green bangles on ebay!

Present wrapping, possibly the most satisfying and calming things to do….

I always seem to rotate the random objects which I put on my windowsill, some days its an old glass coke bottle, other days its a baby ble bowl, sometimes a bashed up tin…I think I have too much old clutter, but I just can’t help myself when I see a crazy object! I once spotted an old fashioned fire extinguisher, all cherry red and shiny…I was too afraid to ask how much it was.The alarm clock was out of my dad’s garage, no idea where he got it from! I dropped it a few weeks ago and it sort of died, I’m warming to the smashy bit actually…

Ooooopsie daisy alas I shall blog again! Just started college a few weeks back and I have been despairing over the early mornings late home scenario….all I do is work sleep and eat! Not fun. Goddamnit the blue dress still isn’t finished, and I had all these big beauty ideas about where I could do my next shoot for it and I am failing to finish it-saying that I think mother may have put it somewhere…I can’t have lost it!!!! 

Ooo lala but in other news I have started my textiles course which is nice and laid back and casual-beautiful! My chosen theme is ‘Contrasting elements’…I am invisaging a Country vs. Old school glamour jacket, all tweed with a beautiful silk lining and sprinkles of sparkling jewels artfully placed…I am becoming rather partial to those wrap around (almost dressing gown?!) jackets..big lapels..yummy…although BIG SHOCK! Purchased patterns are forbidden, that means I have to somehow conjour up my own jacket pattern-hell!

p.s In other news, the day after I posted the pictures of my mice (who are now rather large!) Beryl gave birth-trust me to choose the pregnant mouse! Slightly shocking to say the least but all is dandy as the babies are adorable! There are five and have been named….Sausage, Bodger, Badger, Cranberry and Scottie

 Look at those ears! Margaret and Beryl/Bobby (I can’t decide!) are settling into their new home wonderfully…Margaret is the black mouse and she is much quiter and sleeps alot more than Beryl/Bobby who is constantly eating! They quite enjoyed their time in the teacups, but it was a challenge to get a photo where a face wasn’t blurred /all to see was a tail…they are brilliant companions, the only downside being my once clean bedroom is now covered in sawdust and mouse food!
